The solutions to the most common artwork errors:
Images
To look their best, all images should be 300 dpi or more. A lower resolution could result in a substandard printed image quality.
Fonts
Fonts should be embedded. If a font is not embedded, the font will be replaced with another font, which may or may not be similar to the original, which could result in a substandard appearance, especially if it’s printed in multiple colours.
Very small fonts can be difficult to read once printed.
Colours
Colours should be CMYK, pantone or special colours. RGB colours are not suitable for litho printing.
For pantone colours, the pantone number should be supplied, and for special or house colours, as sample must be supplied in order that it can be matched once it has the relevant varnishes and coatings applied.
Bleed
You should allow for bleed to extend beyond the cutter guide – this is essentially extending your artwork by 2mm in each direction over the dimensions of the carton profile, and 3mm for glue seams.
